O'DRISCOLL: EVERYBODY IS DELIGHTED

Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll confesses that he would have been over the moon with his side's performance during Tuesday evening's 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday - even if the Rovers were the losing side.

The visitors to Hillsborough oozed quality throughout and grabbed the three points thanks to a superb overhead kick by loan debutant Elliott Ward and an unfortunate James O'Connor (theirs, not ours) own goal - following hard work by Billy Sharp and James Hayter inside the six-yard box.

"We were excellent," said O'Driscoll on Rovers Player.

"We played the pitch at the right times, passed the ball at the right times and we put their back four under pressure. We had a problem throughout the game with their 'keeper's long kicks and their throws into the box but that is par for the course for us and something that we need to work on. But we coped with it really well, we played with intelligence and there was some football played on a pitch that is not the best.

"We kept our composure, kept our concentration and it was one of those games where - as it went on - you knew that we needed that second goal just to ease the pressure a little bit - but if we had walked off the pitch as a losing side, I would still be saying the same things."

"Everybody is delighted and this was off a good win against Forest, with Sheffield Wednesday not playing last weekend. We're mindful of trying to put back to back performances together and the team changed and we didn't have much time to prepare. We've been excellent and the boys deserve a lot of credit.
