Doncaster Rovers midfielder Martin Woods will require an operation on his troublesome groin injury; however he will not go under the knife until the current Coca-Cola Championship campaign has been completed.
The midfielder has been missing from the side since the home win against Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of December; however Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll has revealed that the 24 year-old could be back sooner rather than later.
"Martin Woods needs an operation on his groin," said the Rovers boss.
"However he is going to delay that until the end of the season. The surgeon has ensured him that he won't do any further damage playing with it and that the operation now would be the same as the operation at a later date. If he is able to play with the discomfort, then he can play. That's good news and I think he is having another injection to calm down the inflammation and to make it a bit more comfortable. He looks like he could be back in a week."
