Doncaster Rovers defender Gareth Roberts' scan on his injured knee has revealed no severe problems; with Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll now looking to include the full back in training ahead of Saturday's trip to Queens Park Rangers.
The former Welsh international does require further exploratory surgery; however the player has requested that the procedure be delayed so that he can be a part of Doncaster Rovers' push up The Championship table.
"Gareth has had a scan and there was nothing on the scan that would stop him from playing," Sean told Rovers Player.
"However his knee is still swollen and there is still a bit of discomfort. The surgeon wanted to scope him, which would obviously have meant that he would be out for a couple of weeks. Gareth is a bit reluctant for that to happen. He's come in on Thursday and feels okay and he went out with the physios and has been running, so depending on how he feels about that - we'll see what we do from there. As long as we know that we are not doing him any further damage, it might be one of those where we put him back into training on Friday and see how he feels. Again, that's from Gareth and they wanted to send a scope in but he's asked if he could delay it a little bit to see if it settles down. It has got remarkably better and he played the whole game at Leicester with the problem, so it is something - touchwood - that we might get away with as long as we're not making any further problems for him later on."
