SULLIVAN: CONFIDENCE IS HIGH

Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Neil Sullivan says confidence is high going into their clash with Preston North End on Tuesday night.

Rovers travel to Deepdale off the back of Saturday's 5-2 victory over Bristol City, but Sullivan said they shouldn't let it underestimate North End.

"I think the way we approach it after that good win is important," he said.

"Confidence will be high. They're only one position below us so it's going to be a tough game."

"We've got to try and play the way we play and hopefully we'll be good enough to beat them."

Preston appear to be an even match for Rovers. They're only one point behind them in the league and the last game between the sides back in August produced a 1-1 draw.

"They're a good side, an organised side," Sullivan said.

"But we're a good side ourselves and we're playing well so it's going to be an interesting game, very interesting. We'll have a good look at their shape and we've still got another training session tomorrow to go through how we can combat their strengths."

"I think it's important that we try and play the game at our tempo, play the game how we want to play and hopefully we'll be good enough to win."

As the season approaches the final stages, Rovers are firmly mid-table. However, Sullivan thinks there is still much to play for.

"You get a couple of wins and all of a sudden you're looking up," he said.

"So that encourages you and you want to try and push on from there. If you don't win after three or four games the teams below you are going to catch up. Everyone is beating everyone in this league and, especially this time of the year, the teams at the bottom of the league really try and make that big push to get themselves out of trouble. It throws up some funny old results."

"What we want to do is win as many games as we can between now and then. Anyone in this division, if you put a run together, can climb up the table."

These aren't the only thoughts on Sullivan's mind as the season approaches its conclusion.

It is around this time when the 40-year-old shot stopper starts getting asked if retirement was on the cards, but the veteran 'keeper insists it is not.

"I still feel fit, I still feel fine, I'm injury free, so I'm not really thinking about it. It comes from everyone else really. It's just one of those things when you reach a certain age. Every mistake you make is because you're too old. Every save you make is because you're using the wealth of your experience. You can't win!"

"It's the same as when you're starting out. When you're young and you make mistakes it's because you're inexperienced, and when you make saves it's because your young and you've got no pressure on you. So it makes no odds really."
