O'DRISCOLL: POSH HAVE CHANGED

Posted on: Tue 16 Mar 2010

Doncaster Rovers take on Peterborough United at London Road on Tuesday evening, with both sides fresh from victory at the weekend against Derby County and Watford respectively.

Peterborough United are at the very foot of The Championship, however Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll believes that The Posh have developed for the better under new boss Jim Gannon and with the London Road outfit putting back-to-back wins together in the League, their confidence will be high going into the midweek fixture.

"The last two games where we have had them watched, they have been excellent," O'Driscoll told RoversPlayer.

"When Jim Gannon put that (he thought that the team were going to be relegated) in the papers, I thought that I would have done the same thing. As soon as you verbalise something, it brings it out in the open. I'm sure that the players were thinking that themselves, not just for the past few months but since the beginning of the season where they couldn't get a win. When it comes out in the open, people think that you are going to get a negative reaction, but you don't because players are players and they know now that it is out in the open and they can express themselves. In the last two games they have been excellent and they look a really good team. We're probably playing them at the wrong time."

"You're never going to get an easy game in this division; it's just added a little more spice because they have won their last two. They'll be confident and they can play with that same enthusiasm for the rest of the season. Who knows (what Peterborough can achieve); it's a tall order and they admit that but they'll give teams problems - the way that they did with Sheffield United and Watford. We'll be no different; we'll be somebody that they will think they can beat. We'll be on our mark and we'll need to do the things that we are good at."

"In the early part of the season, Peterborough looked like a side that would score a lot of goals, but they lacked a little bit of organisation. You can't lack that in this division and they were punished at the other end. I still think that is their strength, but the structure they play has changed a little bit and it's given them a little more steel. Once you get two wins under your belt, confidence is a massive thing and all of the little things that go against you, you find go for you. You believe that you are going to win as opposed to thinking that you could win."
