Doncaster Rovers central midfielder John Oster believes that in the big local derby against Barnsley on Saturday, the three points will go to the team who performs best on the day.
However he emphasises that he would like to get the three points back from Barnsley, after the defeat earlier on in the season at Keepmoat Stadium.
Oster and the Rovers face Barnsley on Saturday afternoon at Oakwell and Oster stresses his belief that Sean O'Driscoll's side have played some tough games recently; a local derby against Sheffield United on Saturday and against Newcastle United on Tuesday.
However, with the points not going the way the side had hoped, they are hoping to turn the tide against Barnsley this weekend.
The midfielder spent a spell at Oakwell on loan from Sunderland nine years ago, although Oster has never played against The Tykes while playing for Doncaster Rovers, missing out on the last encounter between the two sides.
"They've had an up and down season a bit like us," Oster said of Barnsley on RoversPlayer.
"I wasn't playing in the last game; I got suspended after the Scunthorpe incident. I think they're not similar to us but they have had up and down season a bit like us, just when you think they've had a few good results then they have a bad result which has sort of happened to us really. It's going to be one of them games that whatever team performs best on the day will get the result."
"We've had a couple of tough games, one against Sheffield United which was obviously another local derby and another game against Newcastle on Tuesday night and the results hadn't gone our way in both of the games I would say, but we're looking to put things right against Barnsley which is obviously another local derby team which we obviously need to turn the tide with them. We've played them earlier on in the season and we didn't get the result the lads deserved and we'll be looking to get another three points then."
"It's been a difficult training this week as we've had to prepare for Newcastle and everything like that, but we'll go into it like every other game and we'll try and play football and try and get the win, but I don't think they will be any changes in the anything particular. We'll go there, full of confidence even though the results haven't gone our way but that's only one defeat in something like seven games so it's not like were on a bad run or anything. We've been playing really well lately so hopefully we can keep that going."
"It's been good for me personally playing centre midfield and I'm seeing a lot more of the ball as you do than when your out wide or maybe upfront so it's good for me personally and hopefully that's benefitted the team as it's half shown in the results that we have got because we have been doing quite well so it's been good on a personal front."
"If any of the boys have got any slight injuries from a lot of the games we have played in a short space of time then next week they will have time to recharge their batteries and we can have a normal working week as such which we have not had for some weeks now so it'll be good going into the bank holiday when we have got the Saturday, Monday game so hopefully we'll have the chance to recharge the batteries and be good to go to the Saturday, Monday games."
