Doncaster Rovers may have fallen to their second consecutive defeat, however Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll was left beaming by his side's performance following what he described as a 'lacklustre' display against Plymouth Argyle two days ago.
Rovers were beaten 2-0 by Play-Off contenders Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Bank Holiday Monday, however O'Driscoll said after the game that his side's performance 'ticked all the right boxes.'
"Performance-wise, I would have taken that every day of the week, I thought we were excellent," said Sean after the defeat at Bloomfield Road.
"We were a bit unfortunate with both of the goals, but on a difficult pitch I thought that the team was set out right and we stopped them. I saw Blackpool beat Swansea here 5-1 and watched them beat Scunthorpe at Glanford Park. I thought that we dealt with everything that they threw at us. On another day, we could have come out winning or at least got something out of the game."
"I'm proud of the side and what we have achieved this season and, as I said, I would take a performance like that any day of the week. I'd rather us come off the pitch having lost but ticking all of the boxes that we did today than at Plymouth where we should have won the game, but didn't do all of the things that we needed to do. We played some football but we didn't do all of the nitty-gritties that we did today. I can quite easily come off the pitch today and give them all pats on the back."
