At this Saturday's match against high-flying West Bromwich Albion at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster Rovers Football Club will be showing its support for the 'Level Playing Field Campaign', an initiative instigated by the National Association of Disabled Supporters.
This campaign, now in its fifth year, aims to highlight the importance of creating 'a level playing field' in respect of access and facilities available at football stadia, thus making it possible for all supporters with some form of disability to enjoy the experience of a match day on an equal footing with non-disabled supporters. This year, NADS specifically wishes to champion the cause of 'ambulant disabled supporters', highlighting the fact that many individuals experience a form of disability which may not always be readily visible to others.
In helping to focus attention to this cause, Saturday's match against West Bromwich Albion has been designated as the club's themed 'Level Playing Field' event. There will be a feature in the match day magazine giving more detail of the campaign, with testimonials from various individuals who are fully committed to supporting this extremely important initiative. Guests of the club today will include members of local organizations 'Ability Counts' and 'Doncaster Disability Sports Club', who will be hosted by members of Doncaster Rovers Sports and Education Foundation (Rovers in the Community). Representatives of these groups will be wearing T-shirts displaying the NADS logo, and will welcome the teams onto the pitch prior to kick off. Doncaster Rovers Supporters' Club has very kindly sponsored the costs of these T-shirts as an indication of its support for the importance of the 'Level Playing Field' campaign.
Prior to kick-off, a representative of the club will present a signed Rovers shirt to members of the club's Disabled Supporters' Association, as a gesture of thanks in recognition of the voluntary work which the committee members of the DSA perform on behalf of its members.
Doncaster Rovers Football Club, in association with the Keepmoat Stadium Management Company, is proud of the facilities available to all supporters, and always ready to listen to constructive suggestions which may add to the improvement of such facilities.
'Enjoy the Match'.
