Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Ben Smith admitted he was delighted to have kept a clean sheet in Rovers' 0-0 draw against Swansea City on the final day of the season.
The young shot-stopper was handed his first league start of the season in place of the rested Neil Sullivan and produced a solid performance between the sticks.
"I'm delighted with the clean sheet," said Smith.
"It almost feels as if we won. It was a great team performance all round. Swansea City piled on the pressure at times and we defended fantastically well at times. The four in front of me deserve a lot of credit because they protected me as best as they could."
"I enjoyed it a lot. I've been waiting for my chance all year. It would have been nice to have got a couple more games - but I feel that I've shown what I can do and that I can bring something to this team."
Smith is one of many Doncaster Rovers players out of contract at the end of the season and has admitted that his future may lie away from Doncaster. However, the former Newcastle United man also hopes that he remains a Rovers player and states that his spell with Doncaster Rovers has been the highlight of his career.
"Nothing has been said yet. I was going to speak to the manager this week and see where my future is; whether it lies here at Doncaster or whether I need to go and get some games somewhere else. I've had a fantastic couple of years at Doncaster despite not being in the starting eleven. If I am going, I would like to thank everybody that has kept me going over the past couple of years and being here has been the highlight of my career."
