Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll has applauded Cardiff City's shock acquisition of Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy on a season-long loan, believing that Bluebirds manager Dave Jones will have a dilemma as to who he leaves out of his starting eleven.
Boyhood Cardiff City supporter Bellamy has dropped down into The Championship, despite offers pouring in from Premier League sides, so that he can play for the team he supported whilst being closer to his family.
Speaking ahead of Rovers' trip to Cardiff this weekend, in which Bellamy is expected to make his Bluebirds debut; O'Driscoll joked that he only wished that the Wales skipper had family in Doncaster!
"It's a great acquisition," said Sean on RoversPlayer.
"He's one of those players where every time you see him play, he plays with enthusiasm and I think he is demanding of his team mates. Whenever you've seen him play, throughout his career, you couldn't fault his effort and his work rate. I'm still gobsmacked that Manchester City have 24 or 25 players better than Craig Bellamy."
"If I was in Dave Jones' shoes, I would be delighted that somebody of that quality has got family in Cardiff. I wish he had family in Doncaster! Maybe we could have got him!"
