Doncaster Rovers look to be without defender Wayne Thomas for a lengthy spell, after the centre half was injured in training prior to Saturday's 3-1 win over Hull City.
"He (Thomas) received a knock in training on Friday," revealed manager Sean O'Driscoll.
"At the time, it looked quite serious but it has settled down a bit now. John (Dickens, head physio) is taking him to a specialist in London on Tuesday. He's had some work done on his knee, so the surgeon who has done the work on his knee is the best person to diagnose it. It could be quite serious, but he is an experienced boy and he has come in today and says that it feels a lot better. We just have our fingers crossed that he will be okay."
Striker Steve Brooker was another name not on the team sheet at all on Saturday afternoon; however O'Driscoll admitted that it is a case of not pushing the forward as opposed to serious injury.
"He needs some orthotics; because he has had the problem with his ankle, which has now been fixed, his body has been thrown back to where it should have been. He's been playing with his ankle for so long, it has affected his biomechanics. We didn't want to push him and have a bigger problem that we have got. With the two week break, we didn't want to risk him. He should be okay come Watford."
Defender Adam Lockwood was replaced at half time of the Hull City victory by Sam Hird, with the centre half limping out of the Keepmoat Stadium following the game.
"Adam was desperate to get out and play, but he just tightened up. He's got a nasty knock and with the two week break, he should be okay. I don't think that it is anything serious, but he just got a nasty knock whilst challenging for the ball. His calf tightened up at half time and we didn't really want to risk him for the second half."
Rovers now take a break from fixtures (except Brian Stock who is on Welsh international duty) for a fortnight due to the international break - and O'Driscoll admits it has come at a good time.
"We have been lucky. Every time there has been an international break, whether we have won on the Saturday or lost on the Saturday, we have looked at the team and felt that to have a break has been good and this is a good time for everybody to have a rest from the pressures of trying to get three points."
