Last weekend Doncaster Rovers teamed up with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to help out with this year's Get Doncaster Walking Festival which aims to get people active throughout the town.
Kicking off the Rovers leg of the event on Friday, DRFC and DMBC helped to train 14 Walk leader volunteers as part of Natural England's Walking for Health scheme, giving all participants the chance to earn a valuable qualification and become important members of the organised walks taking place throughout the borough.
Each participant was able to learn the correct way on how to stage a safe health walk, as well as given the opportunity to take part in Doncaster Rovers' own walking event on Sunday, as qualified walk leaders.
These qualified leaders would become a valuable asset during the main event on Sunday morning, when Doncaster Rovers' Beat the Bounds walk welcomed over 60 local residents to take part in a special event.

The 'Beat the Bounds' walk consisted of a 10.2 mile walk around the boundaries of Armthorpe, Cantley, Branton and Edenthorpe, and Doncaster Rovers' health and Wellbeing manager Richard Bailey was thrilled with the turn out.
Speaking after the event Richard said: "It was a great event, and it was made even more spectacular by the huge number of people who showed up.
"The festival is a brilliant way for all residents of Doncaster to get some exercise and take in the wonderful sights of the countryside at the same time, and I hope even more people will get involved throughout the campaign."
The Get Doncaster Walking Festival runs from January up until the 26th May, with another program of walks to be produced for June to December. All the walks vary in location, distance and difficulty.
The next walking event is the Doncaster Ramblers Hooton Pagnell Walk which takes place this Sunday the 29th January at 10:30am, and anyone interested can click here to find out more about the full festival schedule.
