Sean joined Doncaster Rovers in 2005 after arriving from the Leeds United Training Academy.
Born in Harrogate, McDaid never made a first team appearance for Leeds, however he played several games for their reserves before going for trials at Barnsley.
A left sided player, Sean can play both in defence and in midfield if needed and has represented Scotland in every level up to under-19.
McDaid was influential in the Rovers 2005/2006 season, proving a handful for opposing players in his position on the left of defence. At the end of that season Sean was named the Player's Player of the Year and the Doncaster Rovers Young Player of the Year.
Sean was a key part of the promotion winning 2007-08 squad, scoring his first goal for the Club in the home win against Swindon Town. The defender has missed over a year of action following a tackle which dislocated his knee, however - following his recovery - McDaid will be looking forward to getting some Championship football under his belt.
In the summer of 2009, Sean signed a new one-year contract.
