Lewis started his career at St. James Park, where he played for Newcastle United. A former England under-21, Guy initially joined the Rovers on a loan deal during the 2004/2005 season, signing permanently prior to the start of the 2005/2006 season.
A difficult player to defend against, Lewis adds a different dimension to the sides attack, as he has the ability to confuse defenders into where he plans to move next.
Towards the end of the 2005/2006 season, Guy formed a formidable strike partnership with Paul Heffernan, providing many situations allowing other players to score.
Lewis became a revelation at the start of the 2007-08 season, scoring a hatful of goals making him the Rovers top scorer for a chunk of the campaign.
The former Magpie scored a total of eight goals, before being hit with glandular fever which kept him out for a portion of the season.
Guy went down in Rovers history at the start of the 2008-09 campaign, scoring Rovers' first goal in the second tier of English football for fifty years, in what emerged to be a 1-0 win over Derby County.
