ROVERS TO PLAY AGAINST INMATES

Posted on: Mon 01 Mar 2010

Doncaster Rovers have today announced that they will be visiting HMP Doncaster (Marshgate) Prison on 8th March 2010 to participate in a one-off game against inmates.

First team manager Sean O'Driscoll suggested the game as a way of congratulating the inmates who successfully completed a Prince's Trust programme, Get Started with Football - ran with Doncaster Rovers Community Sports & Education Foundation with the support of the Football League Trust.

The programme engages inmates towards the end of their prison sentence in a bid to stop young offenders returning to a life of crime, teaching them key workplace skills through football.

The course aims to help reduce re-offending and signposts participants onto work or training on release.

The young offenders will also work towards an FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate.
