Doncaster Rovers Community team have broken all previous records for participation during the last school half term.
A record breaking 349 sessions have taken place, resulting in the team working with a staggering 7,650 children and young adults over the last 8 weeks.
The figure is even more outstanding when taken into account that their previous highest record held was just over the 5700 mark!
They managed this impressive number by working with over 40 local schools and youth agencies, delivering after-school clubs, term-time sessions and even breakfast clubs. They also had the support of the first team who made squad visits to Balby Central Primary School and Doncaster Prison.
The prison visit/game of football against the inmates, was nationally recognised and was reported by the BBC sport team.
They also work closely with young adults on a course called Doncaster Rovers Entry to Employment (E2E), which is designed to help encourage them to find employment or further education in and around sports or their desired job. The latest 20 week course has just been completed, with positive progression destinations achieved by all 18 learners.
Community Manager for Participation - Liam Scully said: "We are delighted to break the seven and a half thousand mark! The scheme is growing at an unprecedented amount and our participation figures have reflected that. I would like to thank all our coaches for their hard work, they don't often get the recognition they deserve for their great work and long hours, we are all extremely proud to have reached this fantastic milestone."
