Youth Development Phase Academy players will be joining hundreds of keen runners at the Doncaster parkrun on Saturday.
The Youth Development phase ranges from U13s to U16s and the lads will be testing themselves in the timed 5k run around Sandall Park this weekend.
The course begins with a 500m run along the footpath around the lake before passing to the left of the finishline. From this point, the course takes you on 3 full laps following the perimeter of the park.
The parkrun takes place every Saturday at Sandall Park on Thorne Road and begins at 9am. It’s free to enter and is facilitated by volunteers. On Saturday, Academy staff will be volunteering as race Martials.
Doncaster parkrun event director Mark Hudson said: “Here in Doncaster we meet every Saturday morning at 9am at Sandall Park in Wheatley and we attract around 300 people each week.
“The parkrun is inclusive to everyone, from any walk of life and of any ability. Our parkrunners love the fact there is no pressure to run a certain speed, we actively encourage walkers as well as runners and the beauty is it is in a beautiful park, traffic free and therefore totally safe for children and juniors.
“We have been going for over 6 years and have seen over 7,500 people take part in that time.”
