Steve Hernandez is one of the longest-serving members of Doncaster Rovers Academy, having previously served in a full-time role at Club Doncaster Foundation before his switch to the youth team.

Steve has been responsible for the production of first-team goalkeepers Louis Jones and Ben Bottomley as well as Luke Chadwick who currently features for National League side Chesterfield. 

Steve had a spell as first-team goalkeeping coach following the departure of Paul Gerrard and the appointment of Gary McSheffrey as first-team manager. He was appointed to the first-team role in December 2021 and remained in post until May 2022 when he moved back to his previous post as head of Academy goalkeeping.

Primarily, Steve works with U18s on a day-to-day basis and will oversee U16s goalkeepers while managing and working with Academy goalkeeper coach James Leverton who looks after the younger age group shot-stoppers.
