Lauren Breen says it will be an honour to lead the Belles out this season after she was named as captain for the 2019/20 campaign.
The 20-year-old midfielder made her Belles debut last year after making the step up from the development squad, and she says she will take great pride in wearing the armband for Zoey Shaw's side this year.
"It's a real honour for me to be named captain, after coming through the developement setup and working so hard, it's nice to see that hard work has paid off, and now I want to be a role model for the team, especially with the squad still being quite young," she said.
"Doncaster Rovers Belles is such a well-known club, a club with a great history behind it and to now be the captain is brilliant, I didn't expect it at all but it's a great opportunity for me and one that I'm excited to take.
"We've all learnt a lot over this past year, and I feel like i can help the team this year with the experience that I gained last season, I know how tough certain situations will be for the younger ones and hopefully I can help them through the bigger games."
Breen will head up Shaw's new-look side for their debut season in the FAWNL Division One Midlands, and the new skipper believes that the challenge for the team is to bounce back with promotion at the first attempt.
"We're all so excited for the season to start, everything in the build-up to this year has been really exciting, whether that be behind the scenes after the move into Club Doncaster or just in training, we're all raring to go," Breen added.
"Everyone has gelled so quickly within the team and there are really positive vibes going forward, everyone wants to work together, the new players have slotted in so well and I think their experience can help us in this new league.
"It's going to be a real test for us playing against teams we have never come across before, but everyone in the team is ready for the challenge, we have a great team ethic and now we want to transfer that into this season and achieve our aim of promotion."
