Belles head coach Zoey Shaw says she is looking forward to getting back to league action with Sunday’s trip to Solihull Moors.

The Belles lost 4-1 at home to Sheffield last weekend in the FAWNL Cup, and with a first win in Division One Midlands still to come, Shaw is keen to build up momentum with two games in four days coming up for her side.

“I’m glad to get back into league action, it’s good that we haven’t got any gaps in the programme, we can just get straight back to business, we want to get three points on the board and build up momentum,” she said.

“Solihull will be looking at our results like we’ve looked at theirs and will think they’ll be able to get three points as well, it’ll be a good test for both teams, obviously we’re both looking for those first points on the board, but I’m sure we can achieve that on Sunday.

“We’ve picked apart everything from last week, got the girls into small groups, we know where we need to improve and what tweaks we need to make, we felt we were unfortunate with last weekend, but we’ve already moved on.”

The Belles then travel to Long Eaton United on Wednesday also in the league, and Shaw is looking for everyone in the squad to be ready if and when called upon in the next week.

“We’ll have to manage it obviously with the two games in quick succession, but we have a big, fit, healthy squad that’ll be ready to go when called upon, once you’ve got that momentum in your body, it doesn’t matter how many games you play in a row,” she added.

“There is loads of positive feedback coming out from the players over the last few weeks, they’re really showing how much they care and the passion that they have is great to see as well.

“Two games in four days can be tough on the body, especially with it being early on in the season when you’re still trying to get to grips with the minutes, but we have good squad depth which can see us through.”
