Dav Doone says the confidence in camp is running high as the Belles prepare for their final FAWNL Division One Midlands game of 2019.

The Belles travel to face The New Saints on Sunday as they look to close out their league campaign for this year with a win, and with some players set to return, the mood around the squad has been brilliant according to Doone.

He said: “The girls have been brilliant in training this week, it’s been fantastic, the tempo has been great, plenty of smiles on faces and I can’t fault their efforts, I’ve really been pleased with them all.

“They’ve been out in their numbers this week and it’s good to have a few players back involved in the squad as well, players coming back from little injuries, we still have a couple to come back but we have a strong squad to choose from.

“We’re getting back to it and it’s good to see everyone enjoying themselves this week, it’ll be good to get back to actually playing, it’s just a shame that Christmas is coming when it is in a way, but we’re totally focused on this weekend.”

Sunday’s trip to the Welsh border is the penultimate game of the year with the Belles in cup action next weekend, and Doone is keen to see a strong end to 2019 and set up a strong final half of the campaign.

“We want to get a bit of a run going so it’s a shame there’s a break coming up, but we want to go out with a win and put ourselves in a strong place going in to the New Year, coupled with a cup game next week and then have a bit of time to relax over Christmas,” he added.

“We want to go out and get three points before all of that though, we’re preparing well for the game, we know we have a difficult test in store for us, but we’ve been focused firmly on us and what we want to do.

“We’ve got a game plan which we’re ready to go with, we’ve worked hard, we want to get three points on the board heading into that winter break, we’re fully set on what we want to achieve this weekend and hopefully we can do just that.”
