Head coach Zoey Shaw says it’ll be good to get back on home turf when the Belles host Bedworth United on Sunday.

The Belles have played just three times at Oxford Street so far this season in the FAWNL Division One Midlands, and Shaw is looking forward to getting back in front of the Belles’s fans.

“It’s always good to get back to Rossington, we have quite a good fan base down there, we like the ground and we’re comfortable playing there, we’re looking forward to getting back to it and hopefully getting some points on the board,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to getting back into league action, we’ve had a few weeks off now which has been good learning for the girls, but there’s really nothing better than getting back to playing.

“We’re all excited for Sunday, the girls are more than ready to get playing again, the break has done them well both mentally and physically, the weather this week hasn’t exactly helped us but it’s also helped them to relax in a way.”

The Belles have just three league games left in 2019, with two of those to be played at home, and Shaw is keen to make sure they head into the new year in the best position possible in order to kick on in 2020.

“This first half of the season has been a little bit of a learning curve for us all, when we head into the second half, we’ll know a lot more about the other teams we’ve come up against, we’ll know what to expect and what to look for,” she added.

“The main focus for us right now is these next couple of games and making sure we do our job, I know a little bit on Bedworth, they’ve got goals coming from all over the pitch, I mean it’s largely unknown territory for us but we have to be prepared for anything.

“We want to make sure we head into the Christmas break with maximum points, if we can get a couple of good results in the next two games then that can really stand us in good stead for when we head into the new year.”

Tickets for Sunday’s FAWNL Division One Midlands game against Bedworth United are available from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk or in-store at the Keepmoat Stadium in the Club Doncaster Box Office.
