Belles head coach Zoey Shaw says her side will be looking to bounce back with a win when they host Lincoln City on Wednesday night.

The Belles host the Imps in the FAWNL Division One Midlands at Oxford Street going in search of back-to-back-home wins after their last home match resulted in a 3-1 win over Sporting Khalsa, and Shaw feels a mid-week fixture provides a different edge.

“It’s always a different game under the floodlights in mid-week, it can really be anybody’s game, and it’ll be good for us because for the first time in what seems like forever we are back playing at home,” she said.

“We’ll look to capitalise on being back at Rossington, we’ve had a lot of away games recently so it’ll be nice to return home, we’re obviously going into the game looking for a win because we felt we did so well on Sunday and didn’t get anything to show for it.

“We held our heads up high because we thought we had put in a good performance, we played some really good football and so we head back in to league action really looking to take the game to Lincoln.”

Wednesday night’s game in Rossington will be the Belles’ first home fixture in over a month after four consecutive away journeys in both league and cup, and Shaw is hopeful that being back on home soil can play a big advantage against the Imps.

“Being back in front of our own fans will make such a massive difference  for us, we’ve had a lot of travelling and we’ve not played there in over a month, so it will be fantastic to get back home and get a good result,” she added.

“We’re coming up against a side that have a few former Belles within their ranks, that could work to our advantage as we know what they’re about, but at the same time, it could be anyone’s game on the night, we just have to make sure it’s ours.

“We’re confident heading into the game that we can finally get that win we’ve been searching for over the past few weeks, we’ll nail down a couple little bits in training, and hopefully exploit them on Wednesday.”
