Belles head coach Zoey Shaw is confident her side can come away with a big result when they travel to league leaders Wolves Women on Sunday.
Wolves sit top of the FAWNL Division One Midlands after some thumping wins in the league so far, though Shaw is sure her game plan for the weekend is something that can contain their hosts and pay off for the Belles.
“We’re all looking forward to another trip away, you just have to look at the results Wolves have had this year to know what they’re about, they’re a side that can play good football and score a lot of goals, but so can we on our day,” she said.
“We’re hoping on Sunday that it can be our day, we’ve looked a lot at the way they play and looked at who is in their squad, we’ve come up with a game plan for Sunday and if we execute that really well then we can make it difficult for them.
“We’ve had a tough run of away games of late, we’re really racking up the miles recently, but it is what it is and we just have to manage it, we’re digging deep, we’re training well and we’re looking forward to the next game.”
The Belles head into the weekend looking to return to winning ways following two defeats on the road, and Shaw feels the group have re-focused and after a good week in training they are ready to go again.
“We’ve had a good solid week in training, everyone is looking in good shape and high spirits ahead of what is going to be a big game for us, I’d probably go as far as saying it’s probably been one of our best weeks to date,” she added.
“The squad is big and healthy at the minute, we’ve made some new additions that have fit in really well recently, it gives me and Dav a lot to think about over the next couple of days before the game at the weekend.
“We have a lot of ideas ticking around in our heads about what we want to do this weekend, we’re all excited to see what happens, we might surprise a few but we’re hopeful that it will all pay off.”
