Belles head coach Zoey Shaw says everyone is raring to go ahead of Sunday’s trip to Birmingham and West Midlands.
After picking up their second win of the season in the FAWNL Division One Midlands last weekend, Sunday provides Shaw’s side with a great opportunity to build some early-season momentum, which the head coach is keen to see happen.
“Everyone is on a real high after the game last Sunday, there was lots of good feedback from the game, we’ve watched it all back and the girls played really well, and that will stand them in good stead for this weekend,” she said.
“They’re in high spirits ahead of Sunday and the girls are eager to go on a bit of a winning run now, we want to get that win to keep building that momentum, and they’ve trained really well this week ready for the game.
“We’ve dealt with everything that has come our way so far, every challenge has been dealt with, the group of girls that we have here are keen, they’re ready, and they’re fully focused on doing well for the Belles.”
Sunday’s trip to the West Midlands is the first of three consecutive away games for Shaw’s side, and the head coach feels despite a lack of home comforts, the squad will be well prepared for the travelling ahead.
“We’ve had a lot of away trips recently and we have another run of away games coming up now too, it’s a test we’ll be ready for, of course we’d have liked to be at home in the middle of the games, but we’re ready for what’s to come,” she added.
“It’s a lot of travelling for the girls to contend with, but as we’ve said before, that morale is so high, they’ll all be in good spirits going down on the bus, they’re taking everything on board and we’ll make it as easy as possible for them.
“We know a little bit about Birmingham, but like I’ve said in the past, we’re only going to be focused on how well that we play rather than the opposition, I think if we execute our game plan then the score line will speak for itself.”
