Belles’ forward Abby Watkinson was delighted to get off the mark in the regular season after scoring the winner against Solihull Moors on Sunday.
Watkinson’s 73rd-minute effort was the difference as the Belles picked up their first three points in the FAWNL Division One Midlands, and she feels there has been a real improvement in the side over the past few weeks.
“I think we’ve improved as the weeks have gone on and the performance here showed that really, we just have to take our chances more and more goals will start to come,” she said.
“I was happy to get the goal, I’ve had a few shots in the past few games and they’ve not quite come off, I didn’t think one was going to come here but I took my chance when it came, I want to try and get into double figures and do better than last year.”
“We need to take this win into Wednesday now, we have to go out and try and pick up maximum points over the next week to try and push us towards the top of the league.”
