Andy Butler wants his Belles side to treat Sunday’s trip to Sheffield as seriously as any competitive game - as final preparations get underway for the FAWNL Midlands League season.

The friendly at the Home Of Football Stadium marks the final outing before the league campaign gets underway with a trip to Boldmere St Michaels.

Butler said: “I’ve told the girls that Sunday is the first league game of the season, that is how we have to approach it. Let’s get on with it and see what we can do.

“They are a good side and it will be a tough test, but one we are looking forward to.”

The Belles’ passionate supporters have had to sit out most pre-season games due to restrictions following the covid-19 pandemic, but Butler is looking forward to having some fans at the game to cheer the girls on.

He added: “We’ve all seen the Belles fans on social media saying they want to come to our games, so it’ll be good to see a few there like at Bradford last weekend.

“It’s unfortunate with the events of 2020 that football was shut down, but we now know the safety measures are in place to get people back - both on Sunday and at all our home games this season. Hopefully we can put on a performance this weekend and entice them all to come down to Rossington in a couple of weeks!”

Season tickets for the Belles' 2020/21 campaign cost just £30 and are on sale now, with supporters currently expected to be able to attend all home games starting with the visit of Bedworth United on Sunday September 27. Click here to purchase your season ticket now.
