Belles chief executive Russ Green was delighted to see first-team manager Andy Butler sign a contract with Doncaster Rovers, and says it is great news for the club.

Butler, who took charge of the Belles earlier in 2020, has penned a deal to return to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Green: “This is great news for the Belles, Andy has made a huge impact on the club since joining us and I couldn’t have picked a better outcome since he became a free agent as a player at the end of last season.

“Our relationship was already fantastic, but he’s a local lad and I know how proud he is to represent Rovers. I’m absolutely delighted for him.”

With Rovers and the Belles sharing ownership in the Club Doncaster structure, it is a move which is ideal for his coaching role.

Green added: “If he could have hand-picked a club for him to sign for, I’m sure it would have been Rovers. For us it just means there will be an understanding of each club’s requirements throughout - we found it worked well when he was at Scunthorpe last season and it’ll be even better when we’re all part of the same company.

“We were aware of Andy initially through his involvement coaching in the Rovers Academy, and we hope that a few more Rovers fans may come down and support the Belles on Sundays - especially as we’re able to allow supporters back into matches before the men.”

Season tickets for the Belles' 2020/21 campaign cost just £30 and are on sale now, with supporters currently expected to be able to attend all home games starting with the visit of Bedworth United on Sunday September 27. Click here to purchase your season ticket now.
