Belles captain Kirsty Smith says confidence is high in the squad as they prepare to start the season at Boldmere St Michaels on Sunday.

A gruelling pre-season - which included Smith taking a heavy knock in Sunday’s match at Sheffield - means the girls are in good shape.

She said: “We have come so far and achieved so much together in a short space of time, I’m very proud to be part of the team.

“We had each other’s backs throughout pre-season and have worked hard, if we stick together like we have done then we are going to have a good season.”

Sunday’s game at Sheffield ended in a 2-1 defeat, but it was a close game which could have gone either way.

Smith added: “We made one or two mistakes and they got lucky, they are in the league above us but there wasn’t any difference on the day.

“I told the girls not to beat themselves up over one narrow defeat, and we go into the season with a lot of belief.”

Season tickets for the Belles' 2020/21 campaign cost just £30 and are on sale now, with supporters currently expected to be able to attend all home games starting with the visit of Bedworth United on Sunday September 27. Click here to purchase your season ticket now.
