Andy Butler says the Belles must focus on themselves as they prepare to face Burton Albion on the opening day of the season.

It’s been a long time since the side played a competitive match and Butler expects a tough test.

“It’s going to be a tough game because it’s the first game of the season,” said Butler.

“You’ve seen some shock results in the men’s game on the opening day and we don’t want to be one of those shock results.

“We want to go out there and perform well and approach each game professionally.”

With such a long absence from league football, Butler says he and his players can’t wait to get back to it.

“I’m looking forward to the start of the season and I think the players are too,” he added.

“They look fit, and they look hungry. I can’t wait to get into the season and start playing the games and finding out where we stand.

“The first game of the season is a bit of an unknown quantity, you don’t really know what other teams are doing so we’re just going to focus on what we do and how we play and make sure that we’re good with and without the ball.”
