Andy Butler was delighted with the Belles’ second half display as they saw off Sporting Khalsa 1-0 at Oxford Street to make it two wins from two in the FA WNL Division One Midlands.

Butler said: “I thought we grew into the game more towards the end of the first half. We rode our luck a little but in the second half we were the better side.

“We played the majority of the second period in their half.

“Overall, I am delighted with the performance.”

Just under 200 supporters were there to see a Belles win and Butler was quick to pay tribute to the fans who were in attendance.

“It was fantastic,” he added.

“I hear the Bell at the time and it encouraged the players.  It really showed second half, where the belief is there and the crowd is there, it can drive them on.

“It drove them on towards the end of the game help grab that clean sheet, it’s really pleasing to see people back watching football again.”

The only goal of the game came from a stunning volleyed effort by Sophie Scargill and Butler praised the club captain.

“What a finish!” he said.

“I’m really pleased for her. She works really hard, one of the hardest workers in the team. She deserves it, and it’s one she will remember all season.”

Belles are back at home on Wednesday as they host Lincoln City
in the league
