Manager Andy Butler was pleased with the performance on Sunday as the Belles saw off Peterborough United 2-1 to make it back-to-back wins.
Jasmine Saxton and Nadia Khan were on the scoresheet for the Belles in a scrappy victory in tough conditions.
Butler said: “Gritty not pretty but we dug in. We didn’t play the kind of football we can play but we found a way to win ugly.
“If you’re not playing well but you are winning and picking points up, that's a good habit to have."
Butler was pleased with the impact the subs made and he felt helped change the game.
He added: “I said to the players in the changing room, it’s a squad game and the substitutes have to make an impact.
“Overall the squad is pushing each other, it gives me selection headaches but that’s a good sign, it makes my job harder but that’s good for the team”.
The three points took the Belles to the top of the league for this first time this season and Butler took the opportunity to praise the players.
Butler concluded: “I’m really pleased because I know how hard the girls have worked in the game and on the training pitch and always want to improve, I couldn’t be prouder”.
