Andy Butler says preparations for the upcoming season with the Belles are going well as plans are finalised for pre-season.

Butler has been working alongside chief executive Russ Green and assistant Nick Buxton to draw up schedules for training and friendly fixtures.

He said: “We’ve got a few details to iron out, but we know roughly when the girls will be coming back to training and we’ve got some games lined up which will provide some good tests for everyone as we look forward to the new season.

"We've managed to bring in Richard Cooper who has plenty of experience from his time at Lincoln City, so hopefully his addition to the coaching staff can benefit us.

“Last season was a strange one, very stop-start but with a lot of positives on and off the pitch which we are now looking to build on. There’s a lot for us to look forward to this year.”

Butler’s spell in charge of the Rovers first-team last season meant he did not oversee the friendlies which rounded out the season.

He added: “My focus was on Rovers at the time, but I’ve had a chance to speak to Nick about the performances and look back at the videos. There were a lot of positives to take from the games.

“Right now we’re finalising a few things, chatting to players to understand where they’re at and what commitments they can give or need from us, and I can’t wait to get back out on the training pitch with them at the end of the month.”
