Belles chief executive Russ Green says the 2020/21 season is far from over for the club - despite the Football Association ending the league season.

The FAWNL Division One Midlands campaign was curtailed following an FA decision to halt grassroots women's football, but Russ confirmed the Belles plan to play out the season.

He said: "The girls are due back in training in a few days when lockdown restrictions are lifted, and I know how much they are all looking forward to getting back together.

"Then we will get them some fixtures sorted for as soon as they are ready. We've spoken to a few clubs about games, which could be friendlies or even part of a competition with other local clubs which will give us a chance to finish the season on a high.

"We were disappointed with the decision to end the league season, but we cannot change that and are determined to finish a positive campaign - we finished second in the table after all - on a high by getting some games back on."

Russ also thanked supporters for their patience during a challenging period for everyone.

He added: "Everyone knows the commitment and passion the Belles fans have, and I really hope we can host them at games soon - which we will do if restrictions allow us to do so.

"It's also great to see people buying tickets in our 10 For 10 Prize Draw, which has really helped at a time when we haven't been able to play any home games to raise money. Every ticket bought is helping us get the season going again, so thank you to everyone who is in the draw and make sure you don't miss out on a great prize if you've not already bought!"
