Everyone at the Belles would like to thank the world of football for their tributes following the loss of Julie Chipchase.

Chippy passed away last week after a short illness, prompting tributes from across the game.

A minute’s applause was held prior to every WSL game on the final day of the season, as well as prior to Doncaster Rovers taking on Peterborough United at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Belles chief executive Russ Green said: “It has actually been very humbling for everyone at the club to read the tributes which poured in, we kept looking at the tweets coming in and it brought home how much of an impact she had on everyone she met.

“And the comments came from across the whole spectrum, from grassroots coaches she worked with right up to England captains and the actual World Cup twitter account itself. To then follow it up with the tributes at the games was really appreciated, as I’m sure it was by her family.

“Sheila Edmunds and myself have already put our heads together to look at how we can truly mark her legacy, right now we want to support everyone through the grieving process but once we are able to we will put together something to truly recognise her achievements.”
