Belles begin their 2021/22 Vitality Women’s FA Cup campaign this Sunday when they host Nottingham Trent University at Oxford Street.

Andy Butler says his side have prepared the best they can for the university team who present something of an unknown quantity for his side.

“It’ll be a tough challenge,” he said.

“We’ve been trying to do our research on them - as we do for any opponent – and we’ll show them the same respect as anyone else we play. It’s tough against a university team because you don’t really know what you’re coming up against, it could be any number of players.

“They had a fantastic result in the round before, so it’ll be a tough test and one we’re looking for.”

The Belles have won the competition six times sitting third on the overall winners table, but Butler says the weight of history won’t affect his players.

“We put pressure on ourselves to perform in every game,” he said.

“We want to have a cup run. We want to win every game we play and continue our good run of form.

“This game is no different.”
