Goals from Jasmine Saxton and Tiana Hicks saw the Belles and Long Eaton United share the spoils in close fort contest at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Andy Butler made two changes from the side that beat Leafield Athletic on Sunday. Lily Wishart replaced Sophie Bell in the back five, whilst Nadia Khan made way for debutant Lindsey Tugby.

In a tight contest, the Belles were first to go close to breaking the deadlock: wonderful play by Wishart down the left-hand side played a great cross and Izzy Trevillion was inches away from giving her side the lead.

The Belles did take the lead seven minutes later. A horrible mix up in Long Eaton’s back four saw the ball fall to Saxton. She rounded the keeper for a neat finish - her third goal of the season.

The lead didn't last long as Long Eaton United drew level just minutes later. A corner from the left-hand side was whipped in by Tiana Hicks evaded everyone and looped over Ellie Sharpe’s head into the goal.

The Belles kept pressing to regain the lead and they almost did. Trevillion and Wishart again linking up well, this time Trevillion with the cross and Wishart’s header scrapped the crossbar.

The game slowed down in the second half and the fixture became nervy with both teams determined not to lose.

There was a late chance for the Belles to snatch the win. A corner whipped in by Wishart caused confusion between Long Eaton’s defence and keeper but after bouncing around in the box, it was scrambled away to safety.

The draw puts the Belles within touching distance of the top spot with a trip to Wem Town coming up on Sunday.
