The Belles open their 2022-23 FAWNL Division 1 Midlands league campaign with a trip to local rivals Lincoln City Women this Sunday.
Both teams were vying for promotion last season, with the Belles finishing as runners-up and Lincoln just one point behind in third place.
However, the Imps did the double over the Belles in the previous campaign, and Andy Butler will be keen to make sure that his side does much better against a team he expects to be challenging for promotion again this season.
Butler said:” We’re really looking forward to it. What a great way to start the season with a local derby and at the LNER Stadium – hopefully the players will realise how good an opportunity it is to showcase womens' football and show what we are about as well.
“It will be a competitive game, but we’ll make sure everything’s ready, make sure we’re right there and hopefully perform.
Following the success of the Lionesses in Euro 2022, Lincoln City Women are looking to build on the subsequent huge wave of interest generated in the women’s game, and raise the profile of their club within the local community.
This will be the first time that the Imps women's team will have played at the LNER Stadium, and as it will be the opening game of the season - along with the rivalry with the Belles - the club are hoping for a bumper attendance.
Tickets cost £5 Adults and £1 concessions, and are available in advance from the Lincoln City website or can be purchased from Lincoln's Box Office on the day of the game.
Venue: LNER Stadium (Sincil Bank), Lincoln LN5 8LD.
KO: 2pm
