The Belles have strengthened their 2022-23 squad with the signing of versatile defensive midfielder / defender Olivia Harness.
Harness returns to the Belles having spent the last two years at Sheffield FC, where she made 33 appearances playing for ‘The World’s First’ in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.
Olivia said: “It’s great to be back at the Belles. It’s been along time coming. Coming through the RTC I’ve always had a passion to play for the Belles so when I came to the trials it went really well. I already get on well with Andy Butler and Nick Buxton and the rest of the girls so it was an easy decision to make and time to come home.
"I joined the Belles RTC at U14 level and progressed through to U16’s. I made the decision at the time to leave and went to Sheffield FC where I have played centre-mid for the last two years. Sheffield FC was playing at Tier 3 level during my time there so I bring experience of playing at a higher level.
"I’m looking forward to developing myself as a player more, getting on the pitch and getting some game time – and of course enjoying my football as much as I can. I see myself as a versatile player who can play centre-mid or centre-back, but I’m open to play wherever the management think is best for the team.
Belles manager Andy Butler said:” We’re delighted that Olivia has come home to the Belles. She is a strong player who brings some physicality to the squad and will have learnt a lot from playing in the division above. Her signing adds to the level of Tier 3 experience that we already have here.
"She's got the ability to play in a number of positions which is good for us as it gives us more options and flexibility in team selection and positioning. I expect her to come in and compete with the players around her.
Olivia's squad number will be confirmed when the full squad details are released.
