Belles manager Andy Butler was happy with the result but disappointed with the performance as the Belles won 3-1 away at Sheffield Wednesday in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup at the weekend.
Belles dominated the play and had numerous chances but failed to build on the three goals.
Butler said: “Full praise to Sheffield Wednesday for making us scrap – I thought they played extremely well and caused us some problems.
“The performance is not up to where I want it to be. I’m happy that we won, but we never looked fluid, didn’t control the game and I expected more work rate from the players - we created chances, but the quality in the final third was lacking."
Butler acknowledged that in having not played for three weeks, he added: “There was a bit of rustiness, but we must improve – that can’t be the benchmark for us: we need to get the intensity right."
