Belles manager Andy Butler was delighted with the comprehensive 5-0 win over Burton Albion at the Eco-Power stadium at the weekend.

The Belles scored five for the second week running, with goals from captain Jess Andrew, Nadia Khan, Jasmine Saxton, and a brace from player of the match Lauren Breen.

Butler said: “It was a great occasion all round. To be playing at the Eco-Power Stadium to celebrate International Women’s Day and the Her Game Too campaign is one thing, but to round it off with that performance is another.

“We played such good football on a fantastic surface and in front of a big crowd - it was a pleasure to watch.

“We were good defensively. We switched the play throughout, got the ball out wide for our wing players, and scored five great goals. We’ve got players coming back from injury who came on and made a difference."

Butler praised the fans who became increasingly vocal throughout the second half.

He added: “It’s about togetherness – you could see from the players’ reactions and the fans’ reaction at the end – all the credit has to be with them.

“All in all a pleasing day for the fans, the players, myself and the staff."
