PREVIEW | Belles v Leafield

4 March 2022

The Belles return to league action this Sunday as Leafield Athletic visit Oxford Street in the FA WNL Division One Midlands.

Andy Butler’s squad were grateful for game time last weekend in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup against Sheffield Wednesday, which was their first match since the defeat at Lincoln City three and a half weeks ago following the postponement of clashes with Bedworth and Long Eaton.

The Belles go into Sunday’s game in second place, 17 points ahead of Leafield in eighth. The visitors have played four games fewer than the Belles however, winning five, drawing two and losing five. They are currently on a three match unbeaten run.

The reverse fixture earlier this season brought a 3-0 win for the Belles with goals from Jasmine Saxton, Izzy Tevillion and Lily Wishart.

Butler felt the performance against Wednesday was below par and will be looking for improvement to ensure they come away from Sunday’s game with three points to maintain the pressure on league leaders Boldmere St Michaels.

Venue: Oxford Street, Rossington, DN11 0TD.

Kick-off: 2.00pm
