Belles are back on the road this Sunday as they travel to Abbey Lawn to face Peterborough United in the FAWNL Division 1 Midlands.
Manager Nick Buxton will want a response from his team as they fell to their first home league defeat in just over a year, going down 3-0 to Stourbridge at the weekend.
Speaking after that game Buxton said: “First half we matched them but we didn't carry on from where we left off into the second half - the workrate wasn't there and we just weren't at the races. We have to dust ourselves off, as it’s going be another hard game this weekend.
"Peterborough gave us tough games last season and we expect more of the same, particularly as they have worked hard to raise the profile of the women's game and have been getting some great attendances and their fans will be getting behind them.
Belles beat The Posh Women 2-1 at home last season with goals from Nadia Khan and Jasmine Saxton, and had to settle for a point away in a goalless draw towards the end of the campaign that dented Belles' promotion push at the time.
Peterborough have played seven games so far this season, of which only two have been at home. They succumbed to an extra-time goal in the FAWNL League Cup in front of 353 fans against Stockport County at Abbey Lawn (Bourne Town FC), and their one home league game was a 4-1 win against Lincoln City played at the ABAX Stadium (home of Peterborough United FC) in front of a fantastic attendance of 2328.
Posh Women currently sit in fourth place in the league on ten points and one point above Belles, having played a game more, and winning three, drawing one and losing two. Their last result was a goalless draw away against Leafield Athletic a week ago.
The home side are again looking for a bumper attendance on Sunday, with front-of-shirt sponsor The Urban Penguin offering free entry to the game - all supporters have to do is to say the phrase "The Urban Penguin sent me" at the turnstile to be admitted without charge!
Andrew Mallett from The Urban Penguin said:" We are truly happy to support such a talented and ambitious team. Combine that with the history that Doncaster Rovers Belles bring to the women's game, we want as big a turnout as possible on Sunday and this is open to both home and away fans. We want to show the teams that we are behind them and that their game is admired.
