Ciaran Toner takes charge of his first Belles home game this Sunday [December 3] as we welcome Barnsley Women’s to the Iqbal Poultry Stadium.
The Belles return to National League Division One North action for the first time in a month having not featured in the league since their trip to Durham Cestria on November 5.
However since then, the Belles have put out two impressive cup displays as they first pushed tier three side Rugby Borough all the way in the FA Cup before turning to County Cup action.
Toner took charge for the first time in that Sheffield and Hallamshire FA Senior Cup game against Millmoor Juniors Development and saw his side run out 13-0 winners.
This weekend’s opposition currently sit top of the league having collected 22 points from their opening eight games and are currently on a run of three straight league victories.
Barnsley exited the FA Cup at the same stage as the Belles after losing out to Liverpool Feds but still see their campaign alive in the National League plate after beating Sheffield FC 4-0 in the last round.
The Reds’ top goal scorer is Amy-Leigh Barringham-Beck who has netted on five occasions but she trails the Belles’ Jasmine Saxton who has now converted eight times.
