The Belles have reaffirmed our commitment to the Development Squad for the 2023/24 season and confirm that we are seeking a new manager for the group.
Since being reformed in 2021, the Development Squad has made a significant impact on the club and provided multiple players for the senior team, while creating a clear pathway for players progressing from the youth section into senior football.
They will compete in the FAWNL Reserve Midland Division once again next season.
Belles technical director Amanda Greenslade said: “Initially, in plans for next season, it appeared unlikely that we would be able to run a Development Squad. But we have worked hard to make sure it can happen because we are proud of the work that has been done with the squad over the last two years, which has only strengthened the club at first team level.
“As we look towards a bright future at the club, the Development Squad will be a significant part of that.
“It is fantastic to have a genuine pathway from the youth section to the first team and we had at least five players making a breakthrough at senior level last season, including Fans’ player of the year Izzy Gigg. The team will allow youth players to gain valuable minutes at open age level before starting the transition into the first team environment.
“We are now looking for a new manager to join the team and take on the important work of the Development Squad.”
