The Belles return to league action with a first home game of the season on Sunday, September 3 as they host Leeds United at the Iqbal Poultry Stadium in Thorne (2pm KO).

Last time out in the league, Sam Winch and Alexandre Brito Nogueira saw their side run riot in a 7-1 opening day win against FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park.

That result sees the Belles able to enjoy top spot, though of course only on goal difference, with four other sides including Leeds picking up three points to start the campaign.

The Lilywhites beat Stockport County 2-1 courtesy of strikes from Jess Rousseau and Dannielle Whitham before running out 4-1 victors in the Determining Round of the FAWNL Cup last Sunday against lower league opposition in Leek Town.

In between those games however, United saw manager Rick Passmoor depart to take up a role with a Women’s Super League club. His replacement is yet to be confirmed, so they will head to Thorne on Sunday with stand-in boss Simon Wood in the dugout.

This weekend’s clash will be a first competitive meeting between the two sides since December 2018, when Leeds pipped the Belles to the post in the FA Cup, 4-3 winners after extra time.
