The Belles will look to go one step closer to Sheffield & Hallamshire Women’s Senior Cup glory this Sunday [February 18] as they travel to Barnsley Women’s Reserves in semi-final action.

Ciaran Toner’s side will travel full of confidence having recorded back-to-back league wins for the first time this season with victory over Norton & Stockton Ancients on the Eco-Power Stadium 3G last time out.

Skipper Jess Tugby-Andrew opened the scoring in that one with a drilled free-kick from 40-yards out before Jasmine Saxton secured another brace on home soil.

The Belles got to this point of the competition in commanding style having seen off all of FC Manton of Worksop, Millmoor Juniors Development, Dronfield Town and Rotherham United on the road to the last four and scored 29 goals in the process without reply.

This weekend’s opponents were awarded a walkover in the opening round of the competition but have seen off strong competition in Mosborough, Rotherham United Reserves and Sheffield Wednesday to set up a meeting with the Belles.

The Northern Reserve Division side have been dealt a mixed bag of results so far this season having won five and lost seven but have only scored 24 goals in comparison to conceding 68.

Barnsley have however won three of their last five matches in all competitions having overcome Halifax, Chorley and Sheffield Wednesday and losing out to Hull City and Durham Cestria.

Barnsley’s Delia Hurdiss will be looking to keep up her fine form in this competition after scoring a hat-trick in the last round and she currently leads her side’s goalscoring charts with six.

The Belles’ own leading scorer Saxton will be setting her sights on 20 for the season after striking success number 17 and 18 last Sunday and is just four away from hitting the 50th goal of her career with the club.

To back the Belles on the road as they attempt to go within one step of bettering last season’s cup run, the address is: Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre, Snydale Road, Barnsley, S72 8LH.

If you can’t make it this weekend, you only have to wait until Wednesday, February 21 to see the Belles on home soil as they welcome Hull City to the Iqbal Poultry Stadium. Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for 14-17-year-olds and £1 for under 13s. To purchase, please click HERE.
