Belles forward Jasmine Saxton felt her side could’ve won by a bigger margin against Dronfield Town despite successfully reaching the last four of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

The striker netted a second County Cup hat-trick in as many outings in the Belles’ latest success as they successfully navigated tricky conditions on a blustery Eco-Power Stadium 3G.

Despite also hitting the crossbar twice, the number nine was pleased to see the Belles reach the semi-finals of the competition.

Saxton said: “It was a scrappy game and the wind didn’t help but we’re happy to have got the win.

“We created a lot of chances and could’ve scored a lot more but I’m obviously happy to have scored a hat-trick.

“Overall though I think we could’ve taken our chances a lot better though.

“I like playing in this competition and always love to score a hat-trick – I love to score any goal really but as long as the team are doing well and I’m helping them then I’m happy.”

Following the Belles first victory of 2024, Saxton is looking for her side to build league form off the back of cup success.

She added: “It’s always good to get a win I suppose and obviously it’s come in the county cup and got us to the semi-finals so we’re buzzing with it.

“We’re definitely looking to take it back into the league now though and if we keep building on what we’ve been doing in the middle with the passing and build-up then the goals will keep on coming.

“Against Dronfield we perhaps didn’t score as many as we should have but if we take that performance into our league games then I think we’ll do well.”

With the Belles now just 90 minutes away from matching last year’s cup run, Saxton is looking for her side to go one better.

“Hopefully we can go into that semi-final when we find out who we’re playing and we’ll be able to get through that too.

“We want to win it after obviously making the final last year but we didn’t manage to finish the job that time so we want to go one better.

“This year, with how we’re playing, I think we’re looking like having a really good chance.”
