Paynter Hungry For Goals

13 August 2012

Rovers Player caught up with new signing Billy Paynter after the forward signed a two-year deal with the club.

Billy had been to train with the rest of the squad two weeks prior, however the deal was only completed today and he revealed he was itching to get back into the swing of things.

'I'm pleased to be here,’ he said

'It's a good set-up here with a good bunch of lads and I'm looking to help fire Donny back up.

‘I came down and trained with the lads a couple of weeks ago and I've finally signed today.

‘Having been around the place you get the feeling there’s a good team spirit, I think we’ve got a good squad here I’m sure the lads are looking forward for the league to start.

‘The manager at Leeds put me on the transfer list and told me I wasn’t part of his plans, so I needed to go out and try and get myself playing football again.

‘I just want to get back playing football, I’ve missed out on a good few years so I want to try and keep myself fit, play as many games as possible and get as many goals as I can.

‘I spoke to Dean a couple of times on the phone, I feel I can learn from him because he has played in my position - I’m looking forward to working with him.

‘As any striker does, I enjoy scoring goals so I want to be getting back to doing that, hopefully I can do that here at Doncaster.

‘Missing games gives you time to think, but that was in the past, now, I’m looking ahead to a bright future here -I’ve been given an opportunity to come here and prove myself.’
