Doncaster Rovers Football Club is pleased to announce that the club’s Customer Service Manager, Charles, has recently taken on an additional role as the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO).
This is a new role to which all Football League Clubs must appoint a member of staff in order to facilitate stronger communication between supporters and club. This initiative has come about as a result of a recommendation by the Parliamentary Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
UEFA first adopted the principle of the Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) as part of their football club licensing platform, and it centred on improving communication and providing a focal point for supporters to make their voice heard.
As far as the Football League is concerned, the role of the SLO is not only to act as a point of contact for supporters but also to liaise with the club’s management with regard to supporter issues.
On behalf of the club, Charles will regularly communicate with other clubs’ SLO’s, and help to share ideas relating to best practice policies which may be beneficial to supporters of Doncaster Rovers.
Doncaster Rovers Football Club is already extremely proactive in engaging with its supporters through the ‘In Rovers We Trust’ project, and the creation of the SLO role offers an additional channel of communication which will run in conjunction with our existing fan engagement strategy.
